Entreprenuership By Kak Husna

Assalamualaikum

Salam jumaah and have great fully everyone where are give more chances to ibadah. Firstly, I want to tell that this part of my writting is not a part of my assignment, I just attract with the paper work of kak husna doing their master in management. She had post and help us to identify and understand the meaning of entreprenuership from diffrences scholar. There are several definition made by same scholar attract me most, short and precise but bring a complete definition.

Davids (1963) and Mescon & Montanari (1981) also defined the entrepreneurs as “founders of new businesses” (Gartner, 1989). Draheim (1972) also agreed that entrepreneurs are “new company founders.
The creation of something new is usually preceded by identifying an opportunity. Opportunity as described by Moriatti, 2007 “is an idea that is based on what consumers need or want. A successful business sells products or services that customers need, at prices they are willing to pay.

From my understanding, founder of new business is something that new that can gain profit and benefit to the seller also the buyer. That something is the new brand, product or good that need by people around. There also can be new product or good that any one who have not sell it or any good that have been produced but they only renew it.
New company founders is like example one company sell the product like phone, the company always have to brainstorming the new idea to against other company. Like samsung, always creation the new idea like almost one year there will be 5 new phone style  at least will be produced.
Based on Moriatti,2007 definition,I am totally agree with her term of she found oppurtunity. Unfortunately, in Malaysia even we are almost businessman are malay and practised islamic way of business, they are totally against the definition of Moriatti found the entreprenuership is. Many muslim business are cheating each other, supress the customer, and hide the good especially during festival because they want to make a mark up when the demand is higher, but supply deficit." supply deficit" because of their act of hide the good to sell with double price.

Assignment 2

ADOPTION FROM CHAPTER 3
UNETHICAL DILEMMA

DEFINITION AND WHAT IS THE EXAMPLE OF UNETHICAL DILEMMA IN BUSINESS ?

UNETHICAL : Not conforming to approved standards of social or professional behavior; "unethical business practices"

Ethics is based on the recognition of certain human rights. An individual has the right not to be deliberately deceived. He has the right not to be forced to go against his conscience. He has the right to expect other parties to live up to their commitments and to behave according to the law. In the workplace, the employer has the right to expect employees to behave according to company policy.

1. Deliberate Deception

Deliberate deception in the workplace includes taking credit for work done by someone else, calling in sick in order to go to the beach, sabotaging the work of another person and, in sales, misrepresenting the product or service to get the sale. There are other examples of deliberate deception, but these show how damaging deception can be by using a person's trust to undermine his rights and security. In a workplace environment, this results in conflict and retaliation. In a sales function, it can result in lawsuits from deceived customers.

2. Violation of Conscience

Your sales manager calls you into his office and threatens to fire you unless you sell 50 large toasters. You know the large toasters are inferior products and have been selling the small toasters to your customers, instead. To keep your job, you must violate your conscience and recommend that your customers buy the large toasters. Your boss is engaging in unethical behavior by forcing you to do something you know is wrong, and also risking the ire and potential loss of valuable customers to meet a product sales goal. He may be engaging in unethical conduct because top management has forced him by threatening his job, too. Coercion is also the basis for workplace sexual harassment and results in lawsuits. Unethical behavior often causes more unethical behavior.

3. Failure to Honor Commitments

Your boss promises you an extra day off if you rush out an important project by a certain date. You work late hours and finish the project before the deadline. Ready for your day off, you mention it to your boss who responds "No, we have too much work to do." Your boss engaged in unethical behavior that has virtually guaranteed your future distrust and unwillingness to extend yourself to assist in department emergencies. In addition, you are likely to complain to your co-workers, causing them to distrust the promises of the boss and be unwilling to cooperate with his requests.

4. Unlawful Conduct

Padding an expense account with non-business expenses, raiding the supply cabinet to take home pens and notebooks and passing around unregistered or counterfeit software are examples of unlawful conduct in the workplace. The person who steals from the company by padding her expense account or taking supplies for personal use risks losing her job. If a company decides to overlook such theft on the basis of maintaining employee morale by not firing a popular employee, other employees will also steal so they can feel they are getting the same deal as their co-worker. Passing around counterfeit software, if discovered by the manufacturer, can cost the company through lawsuits and fines.

5. Disregard of Company Policy

An employer is understandably concerned about avoiding lawsuits and angry customers because those things negatively affect profitability. Most employers clearly state company policies against deception, coercion and illegal activities. They also strive to convey an image of trustworthiness to their customers and employees. Corporate trustworthiness helps retain customers and valued employees, and the loss of either also negatively affects company profitability. To disregard company policy is unethical because it has the potential to harm the company and other employees.

Question

a ) What Is The Definition Of “Business Ethic” ,
b) Why Business Ethics Is Considered “OXYMORON”

The  www.investopedia.com websites define "business ethics" as the study of proper business policies and practices regarding potentially controversial issues, such as corporate governance, insider trading, bribery, discrimination, corporate social responsibility and fiduciary responsibilities. Business ethics are often guided by law, while other times provide a basic framework that businesses may choose to follow in order to gain public acceptance.

Business ethics as being explained also are implemented in order to ensure that a certain required level of trust exists between consumers and various forms of market participants with businesses. For example, a portfolio manager must give the same consideration to the portfolios of family members and small individual investors. Such practices ensure that the public is treated fairly.

While "http://www.businessethics.ca" define "business ethics" as the critical, structured examination of how people &    institutions should behave in the world of commerce. In particular, it involves examining appropriate constraints on the pursuit of self-interest, or (for firms) profits, when the actions of individuals or firms affects others.

Other than that, "www.ndssbiz.wikispaces.com"define  "business ethics" as the study of proper business policies and practices regarding potentially controversial issues, such as corporate governance, insider trading, bribery, discrimination, corporate social responsibility and fiduciary responsibilities. Business ethics are often guided by law, while other times provide a basic framework that businesses may choose to follow in order to gain public acceptance

Besides that,we should know that business ethic is not law. it is ethic in the business life "structured examination of how people and institutions should behave in the world of commerce" but business ethics are often guided by law, while other times provide a basic framework that business may choose to follow in order to gain.

By oxymoron, that mean the bringing together of two apparently contradictory concepts like cheerful pessimist of deafening silence.

The main purpose of a business activity is to maximize profit. Many cases have been recorded till date on how ethics cannot be applied in business. Some of the famous cases on wrong conduct of business are the cases of Franklin Jurado guilty to money laundering and the cases of bribery in Malaysia.
